HABITAÇÃO SOCIAL NO JARDIM LAPENA

Imaginar o morar no Jardim Lapena e em São Miguel é uma interessante oportunidade de refletirmos sobre o edificar, não como um fim em si, mas sim como uma forma de se compartilhar o conhecimento do fazer.

Para tanto, o projeto se desdobra a partir de um olhar territorial sobre as dificuldades, potencialidades e belezas de se habitar no jardim lapena e os laços afetivos que ali são cultivados.

Na visita realizada, nos deparamos com diversas situações que nos tocaram. A primeira seguramente foi a generosidade na qual fomos acolhidos, a inteligência, apesar de imposta por condições sociais e econômicas, na forma direta e econômica de se construir, a reivindicação do morar e certamente a maneira com que o território é continuamente tratado como um local de depósito, daquilo que a priori não se dá valor em outros locais.

Ao nos depararmos com uma destas situações, o antigo campo de futebol agora aterro, vislumbramos a possibilidade de ali re-imaginarmos a matéria depositada e sua transformação em espaço. Assim propomos como ato primeiro daquilo que será construído, uma pequena fábrica de tijolos solo cimento, que transformaria aquilo que era rejeito em matéria edificante. Com tal ato podemos garantir que uma considerável parte do recurso investido permaneça na comunidade, assim como também reaver o campo de futebol ali existente,  que em dias de forte chuva funciona como uma bacia de contenção.

Partindo da matéria prima ao programa solicitado, compusemos uma série de arranjos habitacionais que conformaram não um projeto fechado mas sim uma gama de possibilidades. Eles são um convite a um diálogo aberto. Seu arranjo, por sua vez, parte do empilhamento direto dos tijolos, dispostos em formato de "C", que por sua geometria estável diminui o consumo de concreto. Por entre suas frestas, a luz inunda os espaços e o vento cruza o interior das moradas, trazendo um constante frescor.

SOCIAL HOUSING IN JARDIM LAPENA

Imagining living in Jardim Lapena and São Miguel is an interesting opportunity to reflect on building, not as an end in itself, but as a way of sharing the knowledge of doing.

To this end, the project unfolds from a territorial look at the difficulties, potentialities and beauties of living in Jardim Lapena and the affective bonds that are cultivated there.

During the visit, we came across several situations that touched us. The first was certainly the generosity in which we were welcomed, the intelligence, despite being imposed upon social and economic conditions, in the direct and economic way of building, the demand for housing and certainly the way in which the territory is continually treated as a place of deposit, of what a priori is not valued in other places.

When faced with one of these situations, the old soccer field now landfilled, we envision the possibility of re-imagining the deposited matter there and its transformation into space. So we propose as the first act of what will be built, a small cement brick factory, which would transform what was rejected into edifying matter. With such an act we can guarantee that a considerable part of the invested resources will remain in the community, as well as recovering the soccer field there, which on days of heavy rain works as a containment basin.

Starting from the raw material to the requested program, we composed a series of housing arrangements that formed not a closed project but a range of possibilities. They are an invitation to an open dialogue. Its arrangement, starts with the direct stacking of the bricks, arranged in a "C" shape, which, due to its stable geometry, reduces the consumption of concrete. Through its gaps, light floods the spaces and the wind crosses the interior of the dwellings, bringing a constant sensation of freshness.

As duas inserções possuem geometrias distintas mas se fundamentam em uma mesma estratégia, a conformação de um térreo de carácter público, com o programa solicitado e pátios com caráter mais reservado, nos quais se concentram os acessos às moradas e uma vegetação mais volumosa.

Pela constituição deste microclima, incrementamos  a diferença de pressão, potencializando assim a ventilação cruzada. Conforme subimos as unidades aumentam em tamanho, diminuindo em quantidade e em matéria e borrando os contornos do edifício na paisagem.

Para a travessia peatonal entre o Jardim Lapena e o bairro de São Miguel, re-imaginamos acessos e fluxos com o objetivo claro de trazer maior clareza e segurança para os transeuntes. Estruturalmente, a passarela é composta por peças pré-fabricadas de concreto, que são empilhadas e arranjadas de forma simples e direta. Suas cabeceiras atuam não somente como marcos na paisagem, mas também propondo funções complementares para o entorno imediato, que corroboram com as atividades já realizadas pela comunidade.

Por fim, o que propomos é um processo inclusivo, a partir de um olhar holístico para o Jardim Lapena e o bairro de São Miguel, que passa por reflexões a respeito de modelos econômicos, da matéria prima, do morar e do fazer a cidade. Entendemos que este momento é uma conversa que se inicia, e muito nos interessa continuar.

The two insertions have different geometries but are based on the same strategy, the conformation of a public ground floor, with the requested program and patios with a more reserved character, in which the accesses to the dwellings and more voluminous vegetation are concentrated.

By creating this microclimate, we increase the pressure difference, thus enhancing cross ventilation. As we go up the units increase in size, decreasing in quantity and in matter and blurring the contours of the building in the landscape.

For the pedestrian crossing between Jardim Lapena and the neighborhood of São Miguel, we re-imagined accesses and flows with the clear objective of bringing greater clarity and safety to passers-by. Structurally, the walkway is made up of precast concrete pieces, which are stacked and arranged in a simple and straightforward manner. Its headwaters not only act as landmarks in the landscape, but also propose complementary functions for the immediate surroundings, which corroborate with the activities already carried out by the community.

Finally, what we propose is an inclusive process, based on a holistic view of Jardim Lapena and the neighborhood of São Miguel, which involves reflections on economic models, raw materials, living and making the city. We understand that this moment is a conversation that has begun, and we are very interested in continuing it.
