TERRA CÉU - UM HORIZONTE EXPANDIDO

Uma replicação do solo ao infinito. A multiplicação da terra como forma de ocupar exponencialmente um território. Replicar o solo verticalmente, no entanto, é antes que qualquer coisa um desejo de ocupar o céu.

Entre céu e terra, um limite expandido é uma reflexão acerca do desdobramento do solo, partindo de sua materialidade até a conquista do céu. E é um projeto de uso misto que se faz em 4 atos.

Ato 1 - Escavar

O início costumeiro de qualquer obra é por meio da escavação, quer para se ampliar a verticalidade do edifício, quer para a execução de suas fundações;  aqui não seria diferente. Iniciamos portanto tirando a matéria existente, descobrindo uma entranha, revelando um existir antes alheio a nossa percepção. Entretanto, mais do que tratar a história material do local como puro rejeito, imaginamos a utilização dessa matéria, a terra, como uma ampliação da existência local que se transborda do seu interior ao térreo.

 O escavar não é somente uma ação que ocorre em obra e por meio do projeto é exacerbada,  mas também se estabelece como atitude de projeto onde volumes de terras são formalmente cortados e como consequência geram vazios que permitem tanto um novo percurso público como uma densidade espacial.

Ato 2 - Empilhar

O empilhamento é um fazer primordial, empilhar pedras, empilhar madeiras, empilhar mercadorias… Aqui imaginamos empilhar o que antes era invisível e agora revelado na forma de tijolos. A terra antes compactada e pertencente a este local é remodelada e empilhada de uma forma específica com o objetivo de criar tanto um diálogo com a cidade como uma atmosfera para aqueles que descobrem a praça encapsulada no coração do projeto.

Em um segundo momento do empilhar, está a estrutura de concreto, que poderá ser pré-fabricada e simplesmente empilhada. Quanto mais elevadas as peças se encontram, menor são seus esforços e mais esbeltas elas podem ser.

EARTH SKY - AN EXPANDED HORIZON

A replication from ground to infinity. The multiplication of land as a way to exponentially occupy a territory. Replicating the ground vertically, however, is first and foremost a desire to occupy the sky.

Between heaven and earth, an expanded limit is a reflection on the unfolding of the soil, starting from its materiality to the conquest of the sky. And it is a mixed-use project that takes place in 4 acts.

Act 1 - Digging

Theusual start of any work is by means of excavation, either to expand the verticality of the building or to carry out its foundations; here would be no different. We therefore begin by removing the existing matter, discovering an entrail, revealing an existence that was previously unnoticed by our perception. However, more than treating the material history of the place as pure waste, we imagine the use of this matter, the earth, as an expansion of the local existence that overflows from its interior to the ground floor.

Digging is not only an action that takes place on site and is explored through the project, but it is also established as a design attitude where land volumes are formally cut and, as a consequence, generate voids that allow both a new public path and a spatial density.

Act 2 - Stacking

Stacking is a primordial task, stacking stones, stacking wood, stacking goods… Here we imagine stacking what was previously invisible and now revealed in the form of bricks. The previously compacted land belonging to this site is remodeled and stacked in a specific way with the aim of creating both a dialogue with the city and an atmosphere for those who discover the encapsulated square at the heart of the project.

In a second moment of stacking, there is the concrete structure, which can be prefabricated and simply stacked. The higher the pieces are, the lower their efforts and the more slender they can be.

Ato 3 - Envolver

Envolver é encapsular metragem cúbica, é criar diálogos entre espaços. As envoltórias acontecem de forma dinâmica e flexível, possibilitando uma grande diversidade de condições, quer nas plantas do edifício, quer nas fachadas.

Na fachada mais exposta ao sol um sistema sombreador individualiza a atmosfera dos apartamentos, protege cada um do intenso calor tropical, mas também desimpede a vista quando necessário. Na fachada oposta um jogo de compartimentação ocorre por floreiras, bancadas, nichos que recebem ar condicionado, esquadrias ou ainda por empenas que cumprem que por um jogo à primeira vista aleatório desempenham diferentes papéis em planta.

Ato 4 - Ocupar


Ocupamos o Céu com o desejo de nele se fundir aos poucos, como uma calma conversa que se transforma e que ao final sabe que se tornar céu é uma tarefa impossível. Assim, resta a esse edifício permanecer no horizonte da cidade de São Paulo. Cabe a ele, portanto, negociar com o ar uma ocupação por meio de seus elementos arquitetônicos numa conversa diária como a estabelecida entre o mar e o céu. Ocupar o horizonte aqui é uma imagem poética, que não nos leva à vastidão que reside na palavra - horizonte- mas sim a particularidades que pertencem a um todo e que por sua delicadeza e potência podem ter um significado de lar.

Por fim almejamos um edifício onde o fazer e a contemplação já não se distinguem, um edifício onde matéria e sensibilidade, presença e atmosfera se amalgam perfeitamente.

Act 3 - Involving

Involving is encapsulating cubic footage, creating dialogues between spaces. The envelope occur in a dynamic and flexible way, allowing a great diversity of conditions, both in the plans of the building and in the facades.

On the façade most exposed to the sun, a shading system individualizes the atmosphere of the apartments, protecting each one from the intense tropical heat, but also opening up to the view when desired. On the opposite façade, a game of compartmentalization takes place through flower pots, benches, niches that receive air conditioning, window frames or even through gables that play different roles at first sight in the plan.

Act 4 - Occupying

We occupy Heaven with the desire to merge into it little by little, like a calm conversation that transforms and that, in the end, knows that becoming Heaven is an impossible task. Thus, it remains for this building to stay put on the horizon of the city of São Paulo. It is up to it, therefore, to negotiate an occupation with the air through its architectural elements in a daily conversation like that established between the sea and the sky. Occupying the horizon here is a poetic image, which does not take us to the vastness that resides in the word - horizon - but rather to particularities that belong to a whole and that, due to their delicacy and power, can have a meaning of home.

Finally, we aim for a building where doing and contemplation are no longer distinguished, a building where matter and sensibility, presence and atmosphere blend perfectly.
