House + House.
What drives us in conceiving these two houses is the possibility of distorting and composing with the notion of nature, at once wild and artificial.
A thin layer of soil floats a few meters above ground level, as if carved out of it. Beneath it, a world unfolds wrapped in natural elements, yet domesticated ones: water, vegetation, animals. Above, two metallic volumes stand out over a grassy area from which the landscape can be observed, like two country houses set upon a garden, in a fairly conventional spatial relationship. There is, then, a certain distortion in the perception of what would be the "natural" ground level, and the elevated, artificial "ground level."
Programmatically, the two houses that come together into a single built complex contain, at ground level, a studio, a residence of approximately 100.00 m², and leisure areas such as a pool and gathering spaces. On the level just above are the two guest rooms and another residence of approximately 90.00 m². Each program contained within the building functions autonomously, with independent entrances, allowing for fluid usability in constant contact with the house's outdoor area.
Structurally, a constant grid of 4.9m by 4.9m, in a mixed steel-and-timber structure, houses the ground-level residential functions, while also supporting the upper volumes and the second layer of vegetation, which at times is enclosed by plants and at other times stands open, allowing light to pass through partially.
